BVB-Stürmer Moukoko zwischen A-Elf und U21: Chance für EM 2024?

Youssoufa Moukoko, the Borussia Dortmund striker, has been selected for both the German National Team and the U21s. He may even make an appearance at the U21 European Championships later this year as he takes on more responsibilities for both teams.

Bundestrainer Hansi Flick recently called up Moukoko to the ‘A-Elf’ squad as a replacement for RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, who has an ankle injury. After the A-Elf team training camp, Moukoko will join the U21 team to prepare for the European Championships in Georgia and Romania, from June 21 to July 8.

Moukoko has maintained contact with Flick during his recovery from a syndesmosis injury that occurred mid-February during the Dortmund-Bremen match. Moukoko revealed that Flick suggested he play as much as possible, believing that he needed to continue gaining match experience.

The youngster is particularly excited about the possibility of winning a title with the U21s, though he understands that he must first continue performing well at club level. He will prioritize his fitness and preparation with Dortmund over the tournament in the coming months.

Moukoko recently returned from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he gained valuable experience with the German National Team, despite the team’s disappointing showing.

By playing with the U21 team, Moukoko will have the opportunity to regain confidence and potentially impress Flick enough to secure a spot on the national team for future matches. Overall, the young striker is focused on improving his performance and seeing where his hard work will take him.
